Every translation uses AI tokens: the text sent to the model and the translation that comes back. We convert those tokens into credits at the price of the model you choose, so one credit always buys the same amount of AI work.
You pick the model per store in the Magento admin: a larger model uses credits faster, a small one (Claude Haiku, GPT nano) only a fraction; short, repetitive fields are batched together and cost very little. The Estimate button in the Magento admin shows the expected credits before you translate, and your dashboard shows the real number for every request.

By default your store keeps translating, and the extra credits are billed at your plan’s rate per 1,000 credits on the next invoice.
Yes, yourself, at any time: in your dashboard under Billing → Spending limit, choose to stop at the allowance. Translation requests are then refused until the next month starts, and nothing extra is billed.
Yes. Under Billing → Spending limit you set how many extra credits a month you allow, and the dashboard shows what that would cost at most. Translation continues past your allowance until the limit, then stops.
No. The allowance resets on the first day of each calendar month (UTC).
Yes. Your team is emailed at 80% and 100% of the monthly allowance and when your spending limit stops translations, and the dashboard shows usage in real time.
